Starting not in Winthrop itself, this is a few miles south - Pacific Pride gas station on Hwy 20 in Twisp. A lone Form 400 which, looking from the intact remote ballast, might still work.

Update May 2025: Jun 2023 GSV shows the gas station remodelled, the tanks and compound replaced, and the wooden pole and the fixture gone.

Withrop is a very small town in Eastern Washington, best known for the American Old West design of most of it's buildings. Also in keeping with the look of the buildings is the lighting- like these two (presumably) sign lights on this telegraph pole.

Update May 2025: Latest GSV shows that around 2023 the existing fixtures have had some sort of retrofits fitted in place of the MH and incandescent lamps shown here. Not confirmed but these are probably LED modules.
The roadway lights themselves seem to have been done at the same time as the rest of the conversion to 'part theme park' look, in the 1970s...Pic taken July 2007.

A closeup of one of the ones fitted with MH- the lamp is protected by a wellglass and by the looks of it, the gear is above, mounted on top of the plate.

There are not very many fixtures- no more than 15 in this whole 'historic' area. This is looking North up Riverside Ave at Hwy 20.

A closeup of one of the other sort of light source- a normal medium base household lamp. Looking at this, it would seem they were probably all like this at one point- see how the plate is welded in- and the MH ones were converted later.

Some more authentic looking lights here! A couple of radial wave fixtures on the front of a store, they have been put there complete with the series insulators and wiring that they once used. I wonder where they were originally from?

The remains of what looks like a household lamp, these have been converted from their original configuration of a series socket, mogul adaptor with series cutout.

A couple of night shots now, all these pics were taken round the Hwy20/Riverside Ave intersection. The 200W household lamps give a surprisingly good light with not as much glare as you'd think.
