EYE 250W SB/R40 SBMV

It's in a soft glass envelope with a phosphored reflector and clear front. The clear front is handy- we can see what's going on inside! If you look at the first picture you can clearly see the tungsten filament surrounding the arc tube, and at the bottom of the arc tube itself the small starting electrode below one of the main electrodes (on the left.)

Here are 3 grabs from the video. The first one shows the lamp not yet warmed up, the discharge is 'fatter' (and not as bright- although you can't see this due to auto iris!) than the middle picture which is the lamp fully warmed up. In this picture you can see the arc bowing upwards slightly from the electrodes- more noticable on the right electrode- this lamp is horizontal here but it's suitable for universal burning...in bigger lamps not suitable for horizontal burning this bowing of the arc can rupture the arc tube. The final picture is just after the power was removed- the two arc tube electrodes are still glowing.
Here's the video
Click here for the video (Realvideo) if you don't want to use the mp4 version. This lamp warms up fairly quickly- within about 2 minutes. The elapsed time is displayed bottom right on the Realvideo version only.
