Palos Verdes Estates, CA
Taken July 2008
Some of the upscale communities in Los Angeles don't have streetlighing at all. Palos Verdes Estates, perched on the northern side of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, is one of them. So actually finding a light- or the remains of one at any rate- here is a discovery of note!
This sorry looking example of an early style L-M Ovalite is located the intersection of Via Almar, Via Arroyo, and Via Media.

The poor thing is missing its lens, and if you look at the right hand picture, the lamp has gone too. Some of the gasket that sealed the lens onto the body of the fixture, hangs down. This has not been lit in many years, I'd guess.
Update Oct 2015:
The latest visit to check on this light revealed a HPS lamp has been fitted, so it looks like it has been resurrected. Still no lens though.
GSV shows an LED replacement fixture by 2020.
