LED test site at North Hills
Taken September 2009
When these pictures were taken in September 2009, the BSL had quite a few LED test sites around Los Angeles, most of them using these Beta Ledway luminaires. This test site was west North Hills, west of the 405, and was originally the streets bounded by Nordhoff to the north, Haskell to the east, Roscoe to the south, and Hayvenhurst to the west.
Here's a night time shot typical of the area. This shot is a little generous in the depiction of the light levels achieved, it feels darker than this in real life. Even so, it's great to see white light, and a residential scheme that is not overlit...it will be interesting to see just how far this whole project goes- will LED be the most common light source in LA in a couple of years?
