The following pictures are of the Moon Towers, 17 of which are still dotted around the downtown Austin area. The history (erected in 1895) and location of them are well known and won't be repeated here, but they are a unique sight in this day & age.
When we visited, there appeared to be some maintenance work going on, with some of the towers being changed to metal halide lamps from the mercury vapour that they all used to be.
